How We Produce High-Quality Dental Work

Precise Planning

Drs. Terry Lee and Mary Ann Work understand that precise treatment planning helps us achieve excellent outcomes. That is why we use digital impressions to capture the most accurate images of your teeth. The skilled ceramicists at our partner lab use these high-resolution images to craft crowns that match our design specifications and offer the most precise fit possible.

Natural-Looking Materials

The crowns we place are made of high-quality materials such as e.max®, zirconia, porcelain, and more. Our dentists will choose the material depending on whether the crown is being placed on the front or back teeth, your cosmetic goals, and your budget. We will also design the crown to complement your surrounding teeth.

More Than 25 Years of Experience

Both of our dentists have been in practice since 1993, and they are committed to continuing education so they can remain skilled in the use of the latest dental tools and technology. They have placed hundreds of dental crowns at their practice serving Scottsdale and Phoenix, giving them the hands-on experience they need to provide you with beautiful results.

DentalWorks is great And I recommend them to anyone who needs great dental work done conveniently at a good price. I only had a week left of dental insurance when I called them needing a crown and they got me in the same week to get it done. Dr.Work and his staff were very friendly and they certainly are good at making a patient feel at ease.

Treatment Timeline Placement of Traditional Dental Crowns

At Dental Works, serving patients from Scottsdale, Phoenix, and surrounding areas, patients can expect the following when having a dental crown placed:

Numbing Medication

To begin treatment, our dentists will administer local anesthesia for your comfort. This medication completely numbs the tooth and surrounding tissues so you don't experience any pain.

Address Decay

Next, we will remove any signs of decay from the tooth. If you have a cavity, our dentists will remove any decayed portions of the tooth. If you have a root canal infection, endodontic therapy will be performed to clean and fill the root canals and all other inner areas of the tooth.

Prepare the Tooth

Since a dental crown completely encases a tooth, some of the natural structure needs to be removed to achieve a proper fit. This allows the crown to fit over the tooth and sit flush with surrounding teeth.

Digital Impressions

Next, we will take digital impressions of the treatment area to guide our dentists and lab technicians in designing and fabricating a natural-looking dental crown.

Temporary Crowns

To protect your tooth while your custom crown is being made, we will place a temporary crown over your tooth. The temporary crown will be in place for about two weeks. During this time, it is important to take extra care when flossing and avoid chewing on particularly hard foods to avoid dislodging the temporary crown.

Design

Our dentists will work with our partner lab in designing a crown that complements your features so no one can tell you have a dental restoration in place.

Fabrication

Next, the ceramicists will craft your crown out of e.max, zirconia, porcelain, or other materials. This process takes about two weeks.

Placement

To complete treatment, you will return to our Scottsdale office. Our dentists will remove the temporary crown and then secure your custom crown to your tooth with durable and long-lasting dental cement.

Dental Crowns to Replace a Missing Tooth

Dental crowns have many uses in dentistry. In addition to restoring a badly damaged tooth, a dental crown can also replace a single missing tooth. This treatment process involves the placement of a dental implant in the jawbone. Over the next three to six months, the dental implant integrates with the surrounding jawbone, replacing the lost tooth roots and becoming a part of the patient's anatomy.

Once the healing period is complete, a piece of hardware called an abutment is attached to the dental implants. About two weeks later, a custom crown can be attached to the abutment, replacing the missing tooth from the root to the chewing surface.
